The valley floor the town is located on was created by the joining of the Santa Cruz River Gold Creek centuries before. Oro Valley covers almost 32 square miles.

A prominent focal point in Oro Valley is the Pusch Ridge View of the Catalina Mountain Range. The spectacular view is a back drop for many Oro Valley AZ home owners. Summer monsoons bring rain to the desert areas and winter moisture adds snow to the mountain tops at 9200 feet.

Oro Valley provides a wide range of community and social facilities. These include a park with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, racquetball courts and Little League baseball fields. A new 30-acre community park provides numerous athletic fields.

The Town of Oro Valley offers two county clubs, four 18-hole golf courses and one nine-hole course. This is a golfers dream.

Oro Valley AZ country clubs also offer tennis and swimming. Oro Valley residents also have many sporting events and cultural attractions are available in the Tucson.

The WGC Accenture Match tournament is in February in nearby Dove Mountain. Horse and greyhound racing is also available.Tucson also is host to the largest Gem and Mineral show in the world and the National Rodeo. These are annually in February.

Primary social attractions include the Tucson Community Center, the Tucson Opera Company and the University of Arizona Arts Center

The Hilton El Conquistador resort is in Oro Valley. The resort has under gone an extensive upgrade and hosts a fantastic July 4 fireworks display each year.

Oro Valley AZ Economic Overview – Points of Interest

Just east of Oro Valley is Catalina State Park. The pine-covered mountains were called La Iglesia, or the church, by the early Spaniards. This is due to their cathedral-like appearance.

Literally straight up from Oro Valley is Mount Lemmon. This peak in the Catalina Mountains is at 9,200 feet. Mount Lemmon is the most southern ski area in the United States.
